Most of us plan to do things before we reach a certain age. We set deadlines for accomplishing great feats so we have something to tell our peers later.
But Pam Creech, 49, is taking a different approach.
She is waiting two years to compete in the Race Across America, or RAAM, a transcontinental ultracycling race. The reason? This year was the first year a woman in the 50-60 age bracket completed the 3,000-mile race. By waiting until 2013, Creech plans not only to be the oldest woman to finish, but she also plans to be the fastest woman in that bracket to finish.
