Identified Gap Ministry Development Priorities
New ministries we would like to see developed, based on requests made to clearinghouse and considering the underlying issues behind presenting concerns:
Education
- Guidance for College Entrance
- Tutoring for GED
- Computer Setup; taking donated computers to individual homes.
Strengthening Families/Building Healthy Relationships
- Instruction/Support for Fathers; using National Fatherhood Initiative materials already purchased.
- Teaching on Healthy Relationship; using Love Thinks or other proven curriculums.
Support to The Love Seat Furniture Bank
- Create a Closet; deliver yourself or through The Love Seat.
- Linens
- Kitchen Kits
- Necessities Not Covered by Food Stamps; paper goods (toilet paper/paper towels), hygiene products, cleaning supplies, diapers.
- Build Simple High Demand Items; storage/organizers/shelves, bunk beds currently being done.
- More Furniture Pickup/Delivery Teams; once a month, every other month, etc.
Support to Employment Initiative
- Provide individualized encouragement to job seekers; help filling out applications, developing resumes, finding job leads and getting acquainted so you could offer encouragement and possibly serve as a reference or to help network.
Transportation
- Provide instruction re: car purchase, ownership, maintenance.
- Form a team of volunteers for small car repairs, maintenance.
- Recruit repair shop owners to join rotating list to offer free services to selected recipients.
- Raise funds for car parts, bus passes, Love INC emergency gasoline program.
- Collect bicycles; provide small repairs, parts to make road worthy.
- Create a closet for children's car seats.
Home Maintenance/Repairs
- Form a team to offer certain types of help; cleaning, painting, etc.
Referrals would come from the Love INC Clearinghouse and would be carefully screened.
