We’re open!
Since our May 1st, opening day:
• Office volunteers from 6 churches have completed over thirty client intake interviews, spending up to an hour on each client, with our vision of building relationships in mind; so far every caller has wanted prayer over the phone and many have requested a home visit for prayer.
• Our first budget counseling class was held last week and there were seven attendants, each attendant was offered additional counseling sessions.
• Church partnerships continue to be developed; some churches are now sending all their benevolence calls to Love INC of Columbia for screening and verification, and those with benevolence funds are asking us to help with disbursement.
• Church presentations have begun and many more will hopefully be scheduled soon, we are still working on presentation videos.
• Guidelines for Cars-INC, our car repair ministry are now being finalized and already one repair has been provided.
Those who attended the Love INC National Conference in April were encouraged to reflect on the Lord’s Prayer and in particular, “Thy kingdom come.”
One message emphasized our role as yeast as taught by Jesus (Luke 13:20), “What else is the kingdom of God like? Even though she used a large amount of flour the yeast permeated every part of the dough.” Yeast doesn’t look like much but it makes a big difference.
Love INC of Columbia may not look like much yet but we aim to make a big difference – it is our desire to see Love in the Name of Christ, through the churches of Columbia, permeate every sector, every street, and every open heart.
Currently our mandate seems to be best described by the words of the prophet Haggai: “Be strong… and work.” (Haggai 2:4) We welcome all who would want to join in and could certainly use many more hands.
OFFICE HOURS
Our office hours are now: Monday thru Friday; 10AM – 2PM
And the clearinghouse will be taking calls: Monday, Wednesday and Friday; 10AM – NOON
