Love INC (In the Name of Christ) of Columbia is one of 150 local affiliates of a 34 year old national organization founded in 1977. We opened our doors in May 2008 in order to enable churches within our city to better network their resources, ministries and talents to help those in need.
Love Inc operates a clearinghouse where we receive requests for help from individuals in need. Volunteers assess and screen needs and match them with church and community resources. We spend time with each caller to gain an understanding of their long-term as well as immediate needs, establish a relatinship and offer prayer. Though financial need is often the presenting problem, we have found that it can become a steppingstone to addressing larger areas such as employment, transportation and financial management.
Many individuals want to move beyond their present circumstances but need the encouragement and guidance of others to do so. Clearinghouse volunteers provide:

Living Large Spring 2012 sessions begin February 16
and go through May 10.
