Rena’s Story

Rena’s landlord gave her a 60 day move out notice on month eleven of her lease. He planned to convert her unit into an Airbnb, and Rena now needed to find different housing on a tight timeline.

Unable to find affordable housing in 60 days, Rena became homeless for the first time in her life.

A disabled friend allowed her to stay on her couch on the condition she pay rent and take responsibility for food, cooking, and taking her to doctors appointments. Additionally, Rena soon became caretaker for her cousin, who is a dialysis patient, and worked part-time while being disabled herself.

Three months later, she and her cousin got approved for an apartment of their own!
